Hobby gets sweet with time -

"I'd have to say that was the scariest moment of my life," the now-11-year-old said, remembering his attempt to capture his first feral bee colony. "We got a bucket and a broom and [Mom] started sweeping them down."

DAR honors community volunteers

Thomas L. Selden and Marcia Baits were recognized for their contribution to the Cedarville community through cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical and citizenship endeavors, helping to organize and and participate in community activities. Selden has volunteered at the Cedarville Township Fire Department for many years as well as the food pantry and the Greene County board of health.

Cedarville celebrates Labor Day -

Greene County News During Cedarville's annual weekend celebrating Labor Day, villagers enjoyed all sorts of treats, train rides, and fireworks in the park among other festivities. CedarFest weekend - complete with pancakes, a fishing derby, and a parade down Main Street - brings families and friends together while honoring Senator James H. Kyle, Cedarville native and the "Father of Labor Day".

Fall, festivals coming soon -

Honoring its long tradition, Cedarville will host its Labor Day celebration in the village. It will kick off 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at Cedarville Fire Department, along with a fishing derby, Little Mr. & Ms.

Buzz buzz -

Greene County News Visitors joined Greene County Parks & Trails and Greene County Beekeepers Aug. 25 at Russ Nature Reserve in Beavercreek for a honey harvest. Participants checked out an observation hive, rolled beeswax candles, bought local honey and shopped with Bella's Bee Supply and Berns Garden Center for pollinator-friendly plants.
